A Guide To Nature’s Elements and Planning Your Next Adventure

Heat index up to 115° expected across Coastal Alabama on Wednesday

If you’re headed to the Alabama beaches on Wednesday, be prepared for dangerous heat. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. for coastal Baldwin and Mobile counties.

Afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 90s, but when you factor in the humidity, it will feel as hot as 115 degrees. These conditions can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, especially if you’re spending long periods outdoors.

If you’re planning a beach day, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, drink plenty of water, and don’t wait until you’re thirsty to hydrate. Wear light-colored clothing, limit strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

Be sure to check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
